What we need:
Fundraising will begin immediately for the remaining items needed to complete the playground, most important is the smooth poured-in rubber playground surface. Poured-in rubber surface is superior to rubber tiles because there are no seams to warp or trip children. This will be our most significant expense. We will also need the poles for the special needs swing and we would like to purchase a wheel chair swing if possible. We also would like to purchase an OmniSpin Spinner. The current park has a circular spinner that children with disabilities can not even sit on. An OmniSpin Spinner is similar but it has a high back area where children can sit inside while others spin with them.
- 6,500 square feet of poured rubber surface
- Underground pvc piping for talk tubes
- Music panel poles (3)
- Swing Set Structure (must be similar poles to play-structure) with wheel chair swing
- OmniSpin Spinner: High back spinner offers children of all abilities valuable vestibular sensory stimulation and encourages interactive play.
- Crawl Tube (coated with rubber surface)
- Park Signage
- Recognition Bricks
- Base gravel materials
- Concrete boarder and ramp to current structure
-
Location
The 6500 sq ft playground will be installed directly next to the current playground at the Hockinson Meadows Community Park.

PLAYGROUND DEDICATION
The Tony Sermone Inclusive Playground at Hockinson Meadows Community Park is dedicated to a true Superman. Tony has a very rare degenerative neurological genetic condition called ADNP Syndrome. He has autism, severe developmental and motor planning delays, he has brain abnormalities, heart abnormalities, cortical vision impairment, and much more. He has lived in Hockinson his entire life and attends Hockinson Heights Elementary School with his twin brother Rocco and sister Sophia.
Additionally, we did not want "Alexi's Garden" to vanish when the building and property were sold bu the ARC, so we are going to carry on her garden within the playground and are incorporating flowers and a bench specially dedicated to Alexi's Garden.
